Travel

Getting to La Jolla

We can't wait to welcome you to beautiful La Jolla, California! Here is some helpful information to make planning your trip a little easier.

Flying

The closest airport to La Jolla is San Diego International Airport (SAN), approximately 13 miles from La Jolla. From the airport, you can easily reach La Jolla by Uber, Lyft, taxi, or rental car. Please keep in mind that travel times can vary depending on traffic and your final destination.

Driving

If you're driving to La Jolla, we recommend allowing extra time for Southern California traffic, especially during peak travel times.

Getting Around

La Jolla Village is a walkable area with many restaurants, shops, and attractions nearby. Our wedding venue at La Jolla Cove is also accessible on foot from parts of the Village, making it convenient to explore the area without needing a car. Uber and Lyft are readily available throughout the area, too. A rental car isn't necessary if you plan to stay primarily in La Jolla Village, but it may be convenient if you'd like to explore other parts of San Diego during your visit.

A Note About Traffic

We highly recommend staying in La Jolla Village for the wedding weekend if possible. If you're staying at a hotel or Airbnb outside of La Jolla Village, please keep in mind that traffic can be unpredictable. A drive that looks relatively short on a map can sometimes take an hour or more to get into La Jolla Village, and particularly to La Jolla Cove, where our wedding venue is located. We recommend allowing plenty of extra travel time, particularly on the day of the wedding, so you can relax and enjoy the celebration without feeling rushed.

Parking

We'll share more information about parking at the venue as we get closer to the wedding. Please check back for updates!

Hotels

Where to Stay

A Note About Staying Outside La Jolla Village

We highly recommend staying in La Jolla Village for the wedding weekend if possible. If you're staying at a hotel or Airbnb outside of La Jolla Village, please keep in mind that traffic can be unpredictable. A drive that looks relatively short on a map can sometimes take an hour or more to get into La Jolla Village, and particularly to La Jolla Cove, where our wedding venue is located. We recommend allowing plenty of extra travel time, especially on the day of the wedding, so you can relax and enjoy the celebration without feeling rushed.

What time should I arrive?

Our ceremony begins at 4:00 PM. We recommend arriving by 3:30 PM at the latest so you have plenty of time to park, find the venue, and get settled before the ceremony begins. We can't wait to celebrate with you!

Is there a welcome event?

Yes! Please join us for our Welcome Dinner on Friday, July 16, 2027, from 6:00–9:00 PM at Catania in La Jolla. We can't wait to kick off the wedding weekend with you!

Where should I stay?

We recommend staying in La Jolla Village for the wedding weekend if possible. We're currently working on arranging hotel room blocks and will share hotel recommendations, special rates, and booking information on our Hotels page soon. Please see our Travel page for more information about traffic when staying outside La Jolla Village.

Do I need to rent a car?

Not necessarily! If you're staying in La Jolla Village, many restaurants, shops, and attractions are nearby, and Uber and Lyft are readily available. A rental car may be helpful if you plan to explore other parts of San Diego during your visit.

Will the ceremony and reception be indoors or outdoors?

Our ceremony will take place outdoors on a rooftop overlooking beautiful La Jolla Cove. The reception will be held at the same venue, which features an indoor/outdoor bar area. Since we'll be celebrating along the coast, we recommend bringing a light layer for the evening.

What will the weather be like?

July is a beautiful time to visit La Jolla! Coastal evenings can be cool and breezy, even in summer, so we recommend bringing a light jacket or wrap.

Is parking available at the venue?

We're working on arrangements for parking at the venue and will share more information here as soon as the details are finalized.

Who should I contact if I have questions?

If you have a question that isn't answered here, please don't hesitate to reach out to us directly. We're happy to help!
